Forge

At the north-west side of the town hall, an area containing charcoal from burnt wooden fragments was discovered and examined. There were numerous slags, sinters, iron shales, shaped as bowls, along with charcoal fragments, originating from a furnace. These elements were only found within the described area, marking the boundary of the alleged furnace. The presence of pieces of non-ferrous metal alloys with iron shale may indicate the functioning of a forge in this place. Forges were usually located “in the immediate vicinity of a weigh house”. Due to the serious damage of the building, it is impossible to ascertain its original dimensions and shape.
